The Red World

While making the zodiac-year earring project, I got into the habit of doodling with a red pencil; finished, they had accumulated into a landscape. Later I simply used digital painting tools to make another batch — each one like a snapshot of some scenery or moment.

As the images piled up into dozens, the fragments began to connect on their own. A 'Red World' patched from many red moments took shape slowly: mountains and water, lakes, mist, flame… all elements share the same red, yet each moment stands on its own.

In the 'Red World', motion and stillness are relative: stare at one image and the others shift; the contrast makes the otherwise static pictures feel alive.
