Moi

With a watercolour brush I write 'moi' over and over, mimicking the mindless repetition of a machine — once, twice, dozens of times.

Overlapping strokes accumulate into misalignment; colours bleed into one another. When at last each draft is played back in order, the red-blue offset weaves back and forth across the picture, like a very light visual joke.

In this work there is no 'I', only 'moi' — the subject is ground into ink by the watercolour brush, again and again.
